Ports Post Record Volume

as the Holiday Season Begins

Major U.S. seaports have posted growth in cargo volume for the month of August as retailers begin importing merchandise for the holidays. The Port of Oakland in California said it experienced its busiest August ever for inbound loads, seeing an increase of 3.1% compared to last year. Aside from ongoing strength in U.S. consumer demand, Port of Oakland officials attributed the increases to overseas demand for American farm goods resulting in more exports.
